FCCB Challenge Me Monday #53 - Spring Rosette Lollipops

The weather is starting to feel a bit nicer, you can hear the birds chirping, and if you look very closely you can see the flowers blooming. That can only mean ONE thing - SPRING is finally on its way! And to give it a nice and warm welcome, Fantabulous Cricut is having a SPRING challenge.

This week's Challenge Me Monday #53 is all about Looks Like SPRING. Simply create a card or project using any SPRING time theme.

I decided to welcome SPRING into my house with this adorable trio of Spring Rosette Lollipops.

Each lollipop measures about 4 3/8" in diameter. The scalloped circles were cut with the Mini Monograms Cartridge at 4 3/8". I first cut out the scallops in "chipboard" - aka Cereal Boxes - to give the lollipops more stability and to be able to sandwich them between the plastic skewer. 

I then layered a 3 5/8" circle cut out of coordinating cardstock. I used my PaperRosette Cut File to create the paper rosettes. On top, I layered a 2" scalloped and a 1 3/4" circle, both cut from the Mini Monogram Cartridge.

I used the adorable little duckie from the Simply Charmed Cartridge. I cut it out twice at 1 1/2" to give it some dimension. Again, I used the Lara Crafts Rub-On Doll Faces to bring the duckie to life. 

This BeautiFly is from the Create A Critter Cartridge. It was also cut out at 1 1/2", but its layers were cut 1/8" smaller. 

The bunny comes from the Doodlecharms Cartridge and was cut at 1 1/2" too. I used the oval from Plantin SchoolBook to make the inside of the ears. I used Lara's Crafts Rub-On Doll Faces and chalked in some cheeks. 

The Lollipops were inserted into a glass bottle filled with "robin eggs" - aka Peanut Butter M&M's. To finish the SPRING Rosette Lollipop Trio I added a 7/8" wide white satin ribbon. OMG! I just remembered I was going to add a small banner strip with a spring message to each lollipop. Oops!

Here they are sitting pretty in my living, welcoming SPRING!

Hello Everyone!

Wow! We are all amazed at all the great entries from last week - a total of 77 entries! Thanks to everyone that made Birthday Sundaes FIRST challenge a HUGE success.

Our challenge this week is create a SPRING themed birthday card. Simply create a NEW BIRTHDAY CARD and include birthday wording on card front in the form of stamped, computer generated, and/or handwritten greetings or birthday worded paper. You can find all the Rules for our challenges on the left sidebar on the Birthday Sundaes Blog.

When I think of SPRING, I think about fresh air, nice weather, blooming flowers, and bugs(stay tuned for more info). I decided to use the tulips from the Create A Critter Cartridge - found on page 69.

The tulips' base or stems was cut out in Bazzill Parakeet Carstock and then I cut the actual tulips out twice in patterned paper from My Little Yellow Bicycle. I used my homemade dimensionals between tulip layers.

The sentiment is from the Everyday {365} Birthday Stamps by Karen Lewis. They can be purchased at The Digi Chick Shoppe.

This week's card was inspired by My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #12 over at SplitCoastStampers.

I don't own any MFT stamps - yet - so I hope this card brings me some luck.

Its Monday and that means its time for another Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday! This week Challenge Me Monday #52 is all about BIRTHDAYS! All you have to do is create a card or project based with a BIRTHDAY theme.

I think FCCB's Challenge Me Monday #52 - BIRTHDAYS is perfect for this month of March. It seems to ME - my personal opinion - that there are more people with a March birth date than any other month. My dad's birthday was on March 5th, my birthday was on March 14th, and Robin's birthday - founder and creator of Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog - is TODAY! So if you get a chance, go on over to her blog, Robin's Creative Cottage and wish her a VERY Happy Birthday!

Since I've been in "Party Mode" since the month started I decided to create a Shaped Card with TONS of layers. The card measures a whooping 8 3/4" high! The party hat is from the Cricut Doodlecharms Hat, the "happy birthday" is from the Simply Charmed Cartridge and was all welded together using the 'Shadow Feature' with Design Studio.

It has a total of 5 layers. In between each layer I used my home-made dimensionals. You can barely see them since I used the foam of the same color as the previous layer. This way the dimensionals aren't so distracting when viewed from the side.

For the "Pom Pom" of the hat I used 4 different sized layers. I started out with an 8" shadowed 'hat-s'(dark pink), then layered on a 8" 'hat-s'(light pink), then a 7" 'hat-s'(green), and finally a 6" 'hat-s'(vanilla), hiding the hat portion with DS. Added a green threaded button to the center and sentiment banner. The sentiment is from the Another Year Older WordArt collection by Verena Karolyi. Confused? No worries. I have included everything into a CUT File available via comment request below.

I incorporated Fun 'n' Flair's VERY FIRST Fun Friday Challenge into this card - just use any Cricut Cartridge of your choice and use the color Pink. 

I felt the card needed some BLING - after all it is for a BIRTHDAY - so I added a few touches of 'Eucalyptus' Stickles to the 'happy birthday' sentiment. I also replaced the dot of the "i" for a pink Dew Drop. To the bottom of the "Birthday Hat" I added some pink feathers I picked up from AC Moore.

The inside of the card uses another  sentiment from the Another Year Older WordArt collection by Verena Karolyi.

Birthday Sundaes Kick Off - Sea Birthday

Today is a very special day for Kristie and 11 other very talented and special Design Team Ladies -  including myself. We are very proud to finally annouce the KICK OFF of Birthday Sundaes! In case, you missed the very exciting news last week, I'll give you a quick recap.

For our first challenge at Birthday Sundaes we went with an

I was again inspired by the Mojo Monday 180 Sketch. I haven't created a round card in a long time and I thought that the kick off of Birthday Sundaes was just the perfect time do one.

I created the scalloped base card using Plantin SchoolBook and Design Studio some time ago for a Princess Birthday Card.

I also cut into my BoBunny 'It's My Party' collection, that I've been hoarding since it came out. I absolutely LOVE the bright colors this card took. The fish, balloons, and seaweed were made using scrap pieces I had laying around. The "water" is pre-embossed Coredinations cardstock, I simply sanded the edges to reveal the white core underneath.

All pieces were cut out from the Simply Charmed Cartridge. The fish and blue balloon were cut at 1". The yellow balloon is larger cut at 1 3/4". The seaweed was cut at 2" and the sand was resized with DS to fit the circle. I used my Signo White Pen to doodle a few stitches around the fish. For the fish's adorable face, I used some Lara's Craft Rub-On Doll Faces I found at AC Moore 2 years ago! I wish I could find some more.

I used some of my home-made foam tape to pop-out the fish, balloons, and sentiment. The sentiment was created by me using Photoshop.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!

I have a real quick post and project for you today. I should be heading out the door with the next 20 mins to a doctor's appt, so I'm going to try and make this short and sweet.

I used my Single Test Tube Holder CUT File to create a "Tube o' Gold". This makes a super quick and cute gift for anyone. I used two Studio G stamps I picked up at AC Moore a  few days ago. The "Happy St. Patty's Day" was stamped onto a Storybook Label sized at 2.125" wide - used DS. Filled the test tube with Lemon Skittles to resemble the "gold". Added a Paper Rosette with another Studio G stamp in the center with some ribbon and DMC Floss.

Sorry this post is one day late. I took the day off yesterday to celebrate my birthday with my family. I had a good time. DH gave me a beautiful bouquet of white roses and pink lillies -  just beautiful - some Birthday Money to spend any way I want and took us out to dinner.

Well, on to this week's Challenge Me Monday #51 at the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog. In honor of St. Patrick's Day - I think - we are going with a "Hip To Be Square" - green & gold theme. Simply create a square card and include the colors green and gold (bright yellow will do).

 

I based my card on last week's Mojo Monday 180 sketch, which happened to be square(or round).

I used the 'GldRnbw' from Simply Charmed cut out at 1 5/8" and the Paper Doll Dress Up  Shamrock resized with DS to be smaller than 1" - I think they were 1/2" or 3/4".  The grass is also from Paper Doll Dress Up and resized with DS to fit into the image square space. The completed card measures 5" x 5".

I then doodled some "stitches" with my Signo White Pen. The facial expression is actually from a sheet of rub-ons I picked up at AC Moore 2 years ago! I'm surprised they still worked. The "gold" was again cut out from a gold gift bag I had stored away. And the sentiment is digital and was designed using Photoshop.

This time, I decided to include a sentiment on the inside. I used the 'GldRnbw' Word Layer. I resized the phrase to fit into my white square area with DS.

Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday to ME!

Well, technically not til tomorrow, but I just can't keep the "secret" anymore! This year I've gotten TWO great surprises for my birthday. The first came a few weeks ago when I was selected to be part of the Fantabulous Cricut Design Team.

And the other, well, remember when I told you that I had a feeling that I wasn't done making cards? Guess What? I've also been selected to be part of the BIRTHDAY SUNDAES CHALLENGE BLOG!!!

Yay! I could hardly keep myself from jumping and screaming when I found it. I'm so excited and can't to share my FIRST Birthday Sundaes DT challenge project with all of you.

Pot O' Gold

After making a total of 5 cards, I've been dying to make something more 3D-ish. And with St. Patrick's Day around the corner I decided to go with a Pot O' Gold.

This was so much fun and felt so good to do. It was designed in Design Studio and is very similar to my Star-Shaped Favor Box and Heart Box.

It measures about 4.5" x 4" x 1.5".

The cauldron is from the Paper Doll Dress Up Cartridge and was cut out in a Chipboard - aka Cereal Box - base first to give the Pot O' Gold Box some sturdiness. I then cut out 2 more cauldrons using Bazzill 'Blackbird' Cardstock. I cut-off the "Gold" from one of the black cauldrons and replaced it with some "Gold" I cut using an old gold-colored gift bag. I love the "shiny" effect the gift bag gave to the "Gold" - almost looks real.

Before assembling it all together, I embossed swirl to the bottom left corner. The swirl is actually a Sizzix Die-Cut that I taped to the back of the cauldron and then ran thru my Cuttlebug twice. Added some white lines with my Signo White Pen - LOVE that pen!

I then added a strip of the Martha Stewart Doily Lace Punch, Ribbon, a shomrock, and a "Lucky" Banner. The banner is from the Create A Critter Cartridge. I designed the sentiment using Photoshop and a Freebie Digital Mini Kit from Delicious Scraps.

The Pot O' Gold Box has ample room to fit several pieces of candy, toys, coins, etc. I was able to fit 8 pieces of Ferrero Rocher Chocolate Truffles!
