FCCB Challenge Me Monday #57 - Wonderful Mother

I hope everyone had a GREAT Easter! Can you believe its the last week of April?! Where did the time go? With April almost finished its time to think about MOTHER'S DAY, which happens to be in about 2 weeks! 

So, this week's FCCB's Challenge Me Monday #57 is all about MOM. Make a project for that special lady with the word MOM(or mommy, mother, mum, etc) on it.

I have to be honest and admit that this card was made at the VERY last minute. I had a busy week and with Easter this past Sunday, I lost track of time. I needed something that would be quick and simple to put together. What better than card?!

I used an older Sweet Sunday Sketch #83 by Karen Giron.

The Flowers - cut at 1.375", 1" & .75" - and Leaves - cut at .675" - were cut from the Accent Essentials. The middle flower has 6 layers and the two smaller ones have 4 layers. I used a brad to hold it all together and then added a pearl.

The scalloped circle -resized with DS to 4.xx" - and border - resized with DS to 5.25" wide - were also cut from Accent Essentials. I could have also used it to cut out the circle patterned paper and sentiment cardstock, but I wanted to give it the Nestabilities embossed border, so I used that instead.

The Butterfly was cut using the Storybook Cartridge at 1.25" - now, I can't remeber if that's real dial size or not. I added an outline of 'Frosted Lace' Stickles and three tiny pearls to the body.

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #6 - 3D Cupcake

Happy Easter Everyone! I hope you all have  GREAT day!

This week at Birthday Sundaes we have a SPECIAL BIRTHDAY challenge for you! That's right NO CARDS! For Birthday Sundaes Challenge #6, create a birthday gift packaging, party favor, invitation, cupcake toppers/wrappers, banners, treat boxes, etc. Anything for a SPECIAL BIRTHDAY!

Who doesn't LOVE a cupcake? They make the perfect size treat for a SPECIAL BIRTHDAY! So instead of baking one, I decided to make one out of paper. I used my Cricut Design Studio and Plantin SchoolBook cartridge to create this approximately 4" x 3.75" x 3.50" cupcake. It was designed in two pieces - the cupcake & the wrapper.

I made my cupcake out of "chocolate" and used one of my FAVORITE papers - Heidi Grace 'Cherrywood Lane' - for the wrapper. I inked the edges of the "cupcake" to give it a more burnt/chocolate look. I topped it off with some "whipped cream" - lace trim - and a beautiful rose holding a candle with a birthday sentiment from Everday {365} Birthday Digi Stamp set.

The picture doesn't do justice to the spritz of Tattered Angels 'Pearl' Glimmer Mist I used on the rose. Some it also fell on the "cupcake" and it gave it such a nice glow and presence. Wish I knew how to picture that.

I filled the "cupcake" with Lindt Lindor Chocolate Truffles. I only put about 6 pieces inside, but a few more would have fit nicely. Oh! just noticed I should have used double-sided colored cardstock.

To close the "cupcake", you simply overlap the three smaller flaps and then overlap the three larger flaps. I used a pair Magentic Discs hidden between one of the flaps and the rose to keep the "cupcake" closed.  You could also close the cupcake using a brad or adhesive.

On to this week's Challenge Me Monday #56 - Do the Bunny Hop. Thats right, Easter is around the corner and FCCB wants to make sure you are ready for it. So, for this week create a project with a BUNNY or CHICK on it.

Today's project was inspired by the Blossoms & Blooms® "Happy Easter" Decor Sign I saw at Kohl's a few weeks back. I simply fell in LOVE with it, but didn't buy it because the ONLY ONE they had was chipped and cracked. So I decided to create my own, I just turned mine into a Font-Shaped Card with TONS of layers

Using Design Studio, I welded the shadows from each cut to form a layer. Has a total of 5 layers in the "thickest" part. Each one separated by my color-coded foam dimensionals. The completed card measures about 9" wide by 5" high to the top of the BUNNY'S ears.

The BUNNY on the sign remined me of the BUNNY on the Birthday Bash Cartridge. I used the Peachy Keen "PK-754 Critter Faces" Stamps. I gave it a cute little pink nose and the cheeks were done using chalks. The inside of the mouth was colored in with my PrismaColor Pencil.

The font used to spell out 'happy easter' is also from the Birthday Bash Cartridge. Each letter was cut out, inked, dotted, staggered and layered individually.

I opted to replace the pink stand for some fresh Spring grass from the Plantin SchoolBook cartridge. And the Easter Eggs are from the Doodlecharms cartridge.

Hi Everyone!

Normally, I would be posting the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Me Monday of the week, but not today - we have something even better in store for you. The Fantabulous Cricut Blog is having its FIFTH Fantabulous Cricut Crawl...Fantabulous Cricut's version of a blog hop! 

It's Spring Time and everyone at the Fantabulous Cricut had decided to have a SPRING FLING! Each Design Team member will be featuring an original SPRING project that includes PINK, GREEN and YELLOW on it along with at least ONE CRICUT CUT.

If you've come from Maquel's Blog, then you're heading in the right direction. If you just happened to come across my blog and would like to play along with our Fantabulous Cricut Crawl, start HERE.

Make sure to check out each DT member's blog for some awesome inspiration! There will be PRIZES along the way at some of our DT member's blogs, and there will be a Grand Prize up for grabs at FCCB for one participant that submits a SPRING FLING project at FCCB!

For my project, I created a SPRING sign.

I used the Storybook Cartridge to cut out the 'Marquee2' label using the Tall/Border Feature. This cut doesn't bring a Shadow or Layers, so I used Design Studio to resize the labels and layer them.

The base of the sign was cut out of chipboard - aka Cereal Box - using my Deep Blade and MultiCut 3. Between the first layer(green) and the second one(blue) I used my homemade dimensionals. The SPRING title is also popped out using dimensionals.

The SPRING title was designed using the Don Juan Font cartridge and replacing the "I" for a Spring Tulip from the Simply Charmed cartridge.

The Birdie - also from Simply Charmed - and the Butterfly from Create A Critter are taking a rest on top of the SPRING title.

To finish off my SPRING sign, I added three paper roses in PINK, YELLOW, and GREEN. The YELLOW rose, is not originally that color. I used my YELLOW ink pad to color a white rose. Cool trick, right?

This week's Birthday Sundaes Challenge #4 is all about PHOTO INSPIRATION and just look at the BEAUTIFUL photo that Kristie has found for us! Doesn't it make you want a HUGE Ice Cream Sundae?

This DELICIOUS photo comes from the Eat, Drink, Chic Blog by Amy Moss. Amy  provides style inspiration, D.I.Y & free stationery printables for parties, entertaining, weddings, and so much more.

So, Birthday Sundaes challenges you to create a card based on this PHOTO INSPIRATION by Amy Moss. Some ideas are to include an ice cream on your card, maybe a banner, or go with the colors - pink, yellow, and white.

 

Once I saw the PHOTO INSPIRATION, I knew immdiately what I wanted to do. I remembered I had some patterened paper EXACTLY like the wallpaper & I had just recieved my Cricut Birthday Bash Cartridge, which has some banner cuts. The ideas were just flowing in.

I came across a sketch by the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog and a beautiful card by Claire Buswell - one of the DT members, which was perfect for this PHOTO INSPIRATION. I based my card on the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #39.

The banner was cut at 1" - I think - using the Cricut Birthday Bash Cartridge.

The sentiment is from the Sweet Birthday Digi Stamp Set by Sweet n' Sassy Stamps. I printed it out on a label from the Cricut Storybook Cartridge - sorry can't remember the size. Used my homemade deminsionals to pop it out a bit.

All stitching was done by hand. Someday I'll get myself a sewing machine - someday.

I LOVED what Claire Buswell did with her Best Wishes card. I CASED her layered ribbon tie at each end of the banner. I used Lace, Crinkle Ribbon from My Craft Spot, and Jillibean Soup Twine.

The inside of the card continues the sketch and was left blank for later.

For my DT Reveal last Sunday, I used Neighbors Digi Stamp for my Beary Special Birthday Card.

Today's card features Designed2Delight's 'Cup Cake' Digi Stamp.

The card is based on this week's Mojo Monday 185 Contest Sketch. Since I discovered Mojo Monday/Verve Stamps I've been trying to get/win some but luck hasn't been on my side. Maybe I'll have better luck this time.

The image was printed out three different times. To create the wrapper, I printed out the image in patterned paper, cut it out and layered it on top of the original image.

I colored in the cupcake and candle with PrismaColor Pencils, blended it in with Baby Oil and used my homemade dimensional to layer it on top of the wrapper. I added 'Yellow' Stickles to the candle flame for a touch of glow. I also outlined the cupcake portion with my Scent-Sibles scented gel pen to give the card a scent of chocolate. Wish you could smell it.

The sentiment is from the Everyday {365} Birthday Digi Stamps by Karen Lewis. They can be purchased at The Digi Chick Shoppe.

The sketch was carried into the inside, which was left blank for a more personal message.
