Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Birthday Sundaes Challenge #10! This week's challenge is to use PEARLS & LACE plus a Birthday Sentiment.

This week's card uses the Viva la Verve May Week1 Sketch.










I replaced the oval background for a Lace cut from the Cricut Storybook Cartridge. I used DS to resize the Lace cut to 4.346" x 3.557".

For color inspiration, I used this week's Splitcoast Color Combination Challenge #323 - Rich Razzleberry, Very Vanilla, Regal Rose.

     

Instead of using SU! cardstock, I used Bazzill "Brandywine", "French Vanilla" and "Piglet" cardstock colors.

I misted the Lace cut with some Glimmer Mist, but its very hard to tell from the picture. The crinkle ribbon is from My Craft Spot and is absolutely great to work with. The Lace Ribbon underneath is from my local fabric store.

The sentiment is digtal and I can't remember where I got it from - sorry.

Like A Flower

Today's card is a special one. Its made for a fellow FCCB DT Member who is currently going thru some hard times. I hope this bring some light into her life.

I was inspired by this week's Mojo Monday Sketch 191.

I loved what Julee did with her card and it inspired me to do some distressing on mine, too.

There are a few techniques in this card. I started off my running my cardstock base thru my printer and "stamping" the HeroArts 'Old Letter Writing' Digital Stamp in a grey. I think this script is perfect for any occasion.

Then I distressed the edges of both Jillibean Papers with my Heidi Swapp Distresser and inked them with a metallic grey ink I got at A.C. Moore.

The flower was HANDMADE by me. Now, be gentle, its my first one - ok, second. I've always used store bought flowers and would have opted to do so if it weren't for Sentimental Sunday's Challenge #55 - Handmade Flowers.

To create the rose, I used a 3D Flower .cut File designed by Jen C. from BrainThings. If you're interested in the file, simply make a small donation and leave her a comment. She's always happy to help.

After rolling the rose together, I added some glimmer with my 'Pearl' Glimmer Mist and centered it with a Pearl. I also used my Cricut Accent Essentails Cartridge to make the leaves.

The color scheme was based on this week's colourQ Challenge #85.

Instead of using Stampin Up! cardstock I used Bazzill Tangelo for SU! Peach Parfait and Bazzill Stonehedge for SU! Sahara Sand.

The sentiment is a freebie from this week's Sentimental Sundays Challenge #55. I used PSE8 to color the sentiment in SU! Basic Grey and Peach Parfait using an RGB code I found online.

I did the inside of this card differently from how I normally do them. I left a bigger frame for the personal message, I will write before mailing it out to my FCCB DT peer.

Before, I leave, I want to show the FIRST handmade flower I've ever done. I intended to use this one on the card, but didn't like the way it turned out. I wanted to give it a "peachy" glimmer, but don't own one, so I tried to make my own. It didn't turn out too good.

This card was crowned Colour Queen!

  I'm so excited! And to think I *almost* didn't complete the challenge. At the end I LOVED how the colors worked together and how it turned out!   ~*~   Wow! This card also made it to TOP 3 at Sentimental Sundays!

I have some pretty exciting information today. I just recieved the news that Provo Craft has launched an offical Cricut Blog! I've already given it a quick look and it looking pretty awesome! The best part, its FREE! I know that there are many of you - just like me - who can't seem to justify the quarterly price of the Cricut Circle, so this new blog is a great opportunity to in on the scoop. Hi Everyone,

Remember how I said I had no need for graduation cards this year? Well, turns out that my Niece(really, DH's) graduates 8th grade this coming June. When I found out, I knew exactly what kind of card I wanted to make - a Money Holder.

I remembered seeing the perfect sketch to go with my idea - Sweet Sunday Sketch #117. The TALL design, just called Money Holder to me.

 

For my color inspiration, I went with the Color Throwdown #142.

I don't use Stampin' Up cardstock, so I matched my Bazzill cardstock as close as possible. I used BlackBird, Limade, & Stonehedge.

The Owl is from the Create A Critter Cartridge cut at 1-1/2". I made the branch a bit smaller by cutting it at 1-3/8". The Graduation Cap is from the Locker Talk Cartridge and was resized with DS to 1.195" x .78" to fit the owl. I used my Peachy Keen Critter Faces Med. Set for the owl's eyes. I also did some white doodling around the owl, branch and cap. I'm not to happy with the way that turned out, guess I better practice some more.

The sentiment is from Pink Cat Studio and is available for FREE. I used PSE8 to rearrange the words into one line instead of a cluster.

Now, on to the Money Holder part of the card. I designed it using Design Studio and Plantin SchoolBook.

There also is an option to use the Birthday Bash Cartridge for a more decorative opening, as shown on my card.

There is enough room to fit a few dollar bills, check, savings bond, etc and a personal message.

This would make a great gift for any graduate - Pre-K, Kindergarten, Middle School, High School, and even College. Who doesn't need a few extra $$?

I forgot to take a picture of the inside - if I get a chance I'll go back and take one. But as always, I also used the sketch for the inside, leaving a larger space for a personal meassage.

Graduation Success Card

Hi Everyone,

Today's card is for the Graduate 2011. I was in the mood to make a graduation card, although I don't really have anyone to give it to. My youngest sister graduated High School last year and it'll be while before she graduates again.




I used this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch #116 by Karen Giron from The Sweetest Thing.

The graduation cap is from the Locker Talk cartridge cut at 1". I cut it out twice - once in black and once in yellow for the tassle. I added a some clear rhinestone to the "knot" of the tassle.  

The scalloped frame is from the Sketch Your Imagination Cartridge. I used Design Studio to enlarge it to the size I needed as well as hide the inside frame of the shape.

The sentiment is from this week's Sentimental Sundays Challenge #54 - Anything Goes freebie by Raindrop Echo Designs.

For the inside of the card, I simply rotated the sketch 180°.

Just as promised, I'm back with this week's Birthday Sundaes - It's A Recipe Challenge card. This week create a Birthday Card using the following:

I thought I was going to have a really tough time with the 3 EMBELLISHMENTS, but then I found the perfect sketch - Mojo Monday 190 - that inspired and pull together this card.

                  













My 2 PATTERNED PAPERS are from the "Lovely" K & CO stack.

My 3 EMBELLISMENTS are the Pink Rose, Lace/Trim, and Pearls.

The sentiment is from WordArt by Bethany. I altered the WordArt a bit to better fit my idea.

The inside of the card also reflects the sketch, only that I made the frame bigger for the personal message.
